The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) invites applications for a full-time Principal Faculty position in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) Program. The Principal Faculty member will play a key role in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the developing MSPA curriculum. The successful candidate will contribute to instruction, student advising, mentoring, recruitment, curriculum development, and program assessment, and participate actively in accreditation-related processes. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, student-centered educator committed to academic excellence, continuous quality improvement, and the university’s mission.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Principal Faculty member will:
- Provide instruction and serve as course director and/or co-instructor in the didactic and/or clinical phase of the program.
- Engage in student advising, mentoring, and professional development activities.
- Participate in recruitment and admissions processes to attract a diverse and talented student body.
- Contribute to curriculum design, course coordination, and ongoing program assessment to ensure alignment with ARC-PA Standards and institutional goals.
- Incorporate innovative, evidence-based teaching methods and modern pedagogical approaches into instruction and course design.
- Supervise and support Physician Assistant students in independent or mentored research and scholarly projects.
- Conduct original research, engage in scholarship, and produce peer-reviewed publications or presentations.
- Provide service to the Department of Physician Assistant Studies, the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences, the university, and professional or community organizations.
Qualifications Required:
- Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA accredited program.
- Current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure as a PA in North Carolina.
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a practicing PA.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, mentoring, or precepting students in academic or clinical settings.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Doctoral degree (DMSc, DHSc, EdD, PhD, or equivalent).
- Experience in PA education, including curriculum development, course coordination, or assessment.
- Experience with ARC-PA accreditation processes and standards.
- Record of scholarly productivity and engagement in professional organizations.
- Commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in health professions education.
