The Tri County HBCU Alliance has named Crystal M. Burns as its inaugural executive director, according to an announcement from WHRI.
The alliance is a charitable organization serving prospective historically Black college and university students and their parents from Chester, Lancaster, and York Counties of South Carolina, as well as HBCU alumni residing, worshipping, or working in those communities. Burns began her appointment as the organization’s new strategic leader on January 1.
With over 25 years of professional experience, Burns has a background in technology, business systems consulting, and change management. Previously, she has served on the board of visitors for her alma mater, historically Black Virginia State University.
In addition to her bachelor’s degree in business management and finance from Virginia State, Burns holds an MBA from South University. She has completed certifications from several institutions, including Cornell University, Yale University, and the University of South Florida.
