Jarvis Christian University Launches Dual Graduate Degree in Business and Religion
Jarvis Christian University in Hawkins, Texas, has launched a new dual degree program that combines the HBCU’s MBA and master of arts degree program in religious studies.
By integrating graduate-level education in business with advanced study in religion, ethics, and leadership, the new program aims to prepare students to lead in diverse environments where both professional expertise and strong values-based leadership are needed, such as nonprofit administration, ministry leadership, higher education, and social impact organizations. The program’s curriculum covers topics such as strategic leadership, organizational management, communication, decision-making, and community engagement as well as concepts related to faith, vocation, and ethics.
“Today’s leaders are expected to navigate complex organizations while remaining grounded in values and purpose,” said Henry Kerich, dean of the Graduate School and MBA program coordinator at Jarvis Christian University. “The MBA and Master of Arts in Religious Studies dual degree creates a distinctive opportunity for students to develop strong business and leadership competencies while also engaging in meaningful reflection about service, ethics, and the broader impact of their work. This program prepares graduates to lead with both competence and conviction.”
“Education should challenge students to think beyond position and title and toward impact,” added Maurice McMillion, program coordinator for the master’s degree in religious studies. “This program allows students to integrate intellectual growth, leadership development, and a deeper understanding of purpose as they prepare to serve their communities and organizations.
