Description
The Department of Biology at Lafayette College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2027. We seek applicants who are broadly trained in neurobiology, including those who study basic cellular or physiological mechanisms within a neurobiological framework. Candidates who are working at the intersection of endocrinology and behavior, or other emerging subdisciplines, are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a relevant field and plans for an active research program that includes undergraduates in their research. Research experience beyond graduate work is preferred. Experience teaching undergraduates is a plus. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates who will contribute to Lafayette’s commitment to creating a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive community.

The candidate will be expected to teach courses in Neurobiology and be able to contribute to our introductory general biology course sequences, in particular Biology 111: Unity & Diversity in Biology, or Biology 112: Biomolecular Foundations of Biology. Candidates will also be expected to teach other courses in their area of expertise. The teaching load is four courses per year in the first year, and five courses per year thereafter. This teaching load will be split between the Department of Biology and Neuroscience Program in a 3:2 ratio, while research and service efforts will be within the Department of Biology. The Department of Biology expects all of its members to maintain active, productive, sustained programs of scholarship that involve undergraduate students. We offer competitive start-up funds and space for research in a new and well-equipped science center. More information about the department is available at http://biology.lafayette.edu.
