Deshjuana Bagley is the inaugural dean of the new College of Workforce Development and Applied Sciences at Louisiana State University Eunice. Bagley comes to her new role from Hillsborough College in Tampa, Florida, where she most recently served as associate dean of associate degree programs in science. Earlier in her career, she was executive director of the Advanced Technology Center at the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.
“We have an opportunity to build an applied education ecosystem that connects students, employers and communities,” said Bagley. “Our goal is not simply to create programs. It is to create pathways into careers and give students opportunities to learn with the technologies, processes and environments they will encounter in the workplace.”
A native of Lafayette, Louisiana, Bagley holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of South Florida and a master’s degree in information technology management from Western Governors University.
Montrose A. Streeter is the new dean of students at Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. Dr. Streeter has more than two decades of higher education leadership experience in student affairs, campus life, enrollment, and academic affairs. Most recently, he was vice president for student affairs at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. Previously, he was associate vice president of campus life and dean of students at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, and assistant dean of students at Kueka College in New York.
“Dr. Streeter is a thoughtful and experienced student affairs leader who understands the importance of supporting students throughout every stage of their college journey,” said Tommy Newton, vice president for enrollment management at Lyon College. “His commitment to student development, collaboration and belonging will strengthen the student experience at Lyon College, and we are excited to welcome him to our community.”
Dr. Streeter studied religion as an undergraduate at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina. He holds a graduate degree in education from North Carolina A&T State University and a doctor of education degree in executive leadership from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York.
Nolan McMurray is the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Alcorn State University in Mississippi. Dr. McMurray joins Alcorn State from another HBCU, Tennessee State University, where he spent six years as dean of the College of Life and Physical Sciences. Earlier in his tenure there, he was chair of the mathematical sciences department.
“Dr. McMurray brings an impressive record of academic leadership, scholarship, and student-centered innovation,” said Joyce Buckner-Brown, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Alcorn State University. “Throughout his career, he has shown a strong commitment to advancing academic excellence, supporting faculty success, and building partnerships that expand opportunity for students. His experience developing academic programs and leading strategic initiatives will be a tremendous asset to the College of Arts and Sciences and to the university. I am confident his leadership will strengthen the college’s contributions to teaching, research, service, and community engagement.”
An HBCU graduate, Dr. McMurray earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science and his master’s degree in mathematics education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He holds a master’s degree in mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematics with a focus on matroid theory from the University of Mississippi.
