Job Summary
Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 7,500 students across its graduate and undergraduate programs. Located in a charming rural setting in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, the University is just a 20-minute drive from the metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and about an hour from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The University seeks to hire employees with experience working with diverse populations.
The Department of Society, History, and Culture at Kutztown University invites applications for two 1/4-time temporary History positions at the Instructor level to teach in-person sections of HIST 025 (U.S. Formative Years and the Federal Republic) for the Spring 2027 semester.
Candidates must have the ability to teach a variety of undergraduate history courses in their discipline, particularly introductory courses in U.S. History before 1900. The part-time temporary positions have a regular teaching load of three (3) hours per week. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on effective teaching and fulfillment of professional responsibilities; continuing scholarly growth; and service.
Preference will be given to applicants showing evidence of strong teaching.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in History or a related field
- Ability to integrate the use of technology into courses
Preferred Qualifications
- ABD in History with defense scheduled
- PhD in History
- Two years of teaching experience at the college level
- Expertise in a topic related to U.S. history before 1900
