In an effort to boost study abroad programs, historically Black Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, has announced that it will cover the cost of U.S. passports for all first-year and transfer students. The goal is to encourage new students to consider one of the many study abroad programs offered by the university in 11 countries around the world. The university offers study abroad programs in China, Russia Israel, Egypt, Senegal and several other nations.
The free passport program is part of the university’s Go Global Initiative.
