Sonoma State University Students Address Bias Incidents on Campus

ssuThe student government association at Sonoma State University has created a Bias Report Protocol and will present the document to university officials for approval. The student government group wrote the protocol after several bias incidents occurred on campus. In one incident, racist graffiti was written on the poster of a Black student group.

The new protocol calls for a standard operating procedure when incidents of bias occur in the future. Bianca Zamora, diversity senator at Sonoma State University, stated, “There is no communication between the school and students when these things happen. A lot of these issues are left in the dark, so students don’t know what to do then these things happen.”
