Tonya Peeples, professor of chemical and biochemical engineering and director of the Ethnic Inclusion Effort at the College of Engineering of the University of Iowa, received the university’s Michael J. Brody Award for Faculty Excellence in Service. The award is named after the former president of the University of Iowa Faculty Senate.
Professor Peeples has been active in recruiting women and minority students into the university’s engineering programs. She joined the faculty at the University of Iowa in 1995.
A graduate of North Carolina State University, Professor Peeples earned a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
