Three Black Scholars in New Faculty Posts

BarnesSheretta Butler-Barnes is a new assistant professor in the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. Before joining the faculty she was a postdoctoral fellow at the School of Education of the University of Michigan. Her research involves the formation of racial identity.

Dr. Butler-Barnes is a graduate of Michigan State University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit.

Kelly_finalHilton Kelly was promoted to associate professor of education and granted tenure at Davidson College in North Carolina. He joined the Davidson faculty in 2007 after teaching in K-12 public schools.

Dr. Kelly is a graduate of the University of North Carolina Charlotte, where he majored in history. He holds a master’s degree in labor studies and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

nganjeWilliam Nganje was named professor and chair of the department of agribusiness and applied economics at North Dakota State University. He was an associate professor of agribusiness finance at Arizona State University.

Professor Nganje earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at ENSA University in Dschange, Cameroon, in Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in agricultural economics from the University of Illinois.
