Southern University Strengthens Its Ties to Kirikkale University in Turkey

SouthernUniversitySouthern University, the historically Black educational institution in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has entered into an agreement to further strengthen its ties to Kirikkale University in Turkey.

Eleven faculty members from Kirikkale University are currently attending an English Language Training Program on the Southern University campus. The new agreement will increase faculty and student exchanges between the two universities. Students from Turkey will participate in English language training at Southern and one day may enroll as full-time students at the HBCU.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024

Strickland spent his lifetime dedicated to advancing civil rights and Black political representation. For four decades, he served as a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught courses on Black history and the civil rights movement.
