Two Black Scholars in New Teaching Roles

LaFleur Stephens will join the Princeton University faculty next July as an assistant professor of politics. She is currently conducting postdoctoral research at Princeton.

Dr. Stephens is a graduate of the University of Rochester and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.

Chap KusimbaChapurukha Kusimba is a new chair of the department of anthropology at American University in Washington, D.C. He was a professor of anthropology at the University of Illinois at Chicago and served for 19 years as curator of African archaeology and ethnology at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. He is a former research scientist at the National Museums of Kenya.

Dr. Kusimba is a graduate of Kenyatta University in Nairobi. He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
