Bethune-Cookman University to Launch a New School of Religion

Bethune-Cookman University, the historically Black educational institution in Daytona Beach, Florida, has announced the establishment of a new School of Religion. The school will offer a master’s degree in religion and a master of divinity degree. The new school is expected to enroll its first students in the fall of 2015. The university hopes to enroll between 50 to 75 students in its inaugural class.

bracyThe university has named Randolph Bracy Jr. as a Distinguished Professor and director of the new School of Religion. In 2012 he retired as pastor of the New Covenant Baptist Church of Orlando after a 35-year career in the ministry.

Dr. Bracey is a 1967 graduate of Bethune-Cookman. He earned a master’s degree in education from Florida A&M University, a master of divinity degree from the Colgate-Rochester Divinity School, and an educational doctorate from the University of Florida.
