Dillard University Names New President

Dillard University, the historically black educational institution in New Orleans, has announced that Walter M. Kimbrough will become its seventh president. He will assume his new role on July 1, 2012. Currently, Dr. Kimbrough is president of Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. Kimbrough has led Philander Smith for the past seven years. Prior to accepting that post, he was vice president for student affairs at Albany State University in Georgia.

Dr. Kimbrough is a graduate of the University of Georgia. He holds a master’s degree from Miami University and a doctorate in higher education from Georgia State University.

  1. PSC’s loss is definitely Dillard’s gain. The members of Dillard’s Board could not have selected a more capable visionary leader, than Walter Kimbrough. Congratulations, Dr. Kimbrough!
