Faculty Senate at Arkansas Baptist College Calls for Ouster of President

abcArkansas Baptist College, the historically Black educational institution in Little Rock, has not been able to pay its faculty since November 1. A college spokesperson said that the financial difficulty was due to a delay in receiving funds from the federal government.

The faculty senate sent a letter to the board of trustees and the college’s accrediting agency listing a series of grievances and recommending that the college’s president, Fitz Hill, and chief financial officer, Billy Owens, be relived of their duties.

In response, the college issued a statement which read in part, “We have been working with the Department of Education over the past four months and currently have a recommended consultant that is assisting us through our challenges. We are confident there are no basis to the allegations.”
