The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity chapter at Arizona State University in Tempe was suspended after it held a “Martin Luther King Black Party.” Later the fraternity’s charter was permanently revoked by the university. Pictures posted online from the event showed party goers dressed in basketball jerseys, flashing gang signs, and drinking from watermelon cups.
In an official statement, the university stated, “ASU has one of the most diverse student bodies of any major university in the country, and it is unfortunate that a few misguided individuals held an offensive party at a time when ASU, the state and the nation are celebrating Dr. King’s achievements and legacy. The university will not tolerate this kind of behavior.”
Same stuff, different day. When does it end?
