Robyn Hadley to Direct the Ervin Scholars Program at Washington University

Robyn Hadley Photography by Mike Mayse_rollupWashington University in St. Louis has announced that Robyn S. Hadley will become only the second director of the university’s John B. Ervin Scholars Program. James E. McLeod served as director of the program from its founding in 1986 to his death in 2011. The program awards full-tuition scholarships to incoming first-year students who have shown exceptional academic and leadership achievements and who have shown a commitment to community service and diversity. The program is named after the first African American dean at the university.

Hadley, who will also hold the title of associate vice chancellor, has been serving as the founder and executive director of What’s After High School program in Burlington, North Carolina. The educational begins to prepare young children and their parents to navigate and prepare for the college admissions process.

After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Hadley was named a Rhodes Scholar and studied at Oxford University. She is the author of Within View, Within Reach: Navigating the College-Bound Journey (Samuel Stone Press, 2010).
