Documentary on the Racial Integration of Clemson University to Air Nationwide

GanttSouth Carolina educational television’s documentary The Education of Harvey Gantt will be shown on stations of the Public Broadcasting System throughout the month of February. The film will be shown in more than 70 percent of U.S. television markets.

The film documents the story of Gantt’s integration of Clemson University in South Carolina in 1963. He went on to graduate with honors in 1965 with a degree in architecture. After graduation, Gantt earned a master’s degree at MIT and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, and established a successful architectural firm. Gantt was elected to the Charlotte City Council in 1974 and served two terms as mayor of the city beginning in 1983.
