The Young African Leaders Initiative Comes to Syracuse University

YALIThe Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University in New York will host 25 students from Africa this summer as part of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative. The students will be young professionals from throughout Africa who are seeking to build careers in public service.

In addition to classroom sessions at Syracuse University, the African students will meet with local, county, and state government officials to get first-hand experience of the workings of American political institutions.

The Syracuse effort is part of a program that will bring 500 young Africans to the United States each year to study public administration, civil society, and business management.
