CherRhonda Smith-Hollins, director of engineering services in the Roy G. Perry College of Engineering at Prairie View A&M University in Texas, died on March 19 in Cypress, Texas. She was 33 years old.
At Prairie View A&M, Dr. Smith-Hollins worked in the areas of student retention and recruitment. She coordinated the engineering school’s summer programs and was adviser to the university’s chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
A native of Bryan, Texas, Dr. Smith-Hollins held bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University. She earned a doctorate in agricultural and extension education from Pennsylvania State University.
