Helen McAlpine Takes the Reins of Leadership at Gadsden State Community College in Alabama

Dr. McAlpineHelen McAlpine was named interim president at Gadsden State Community College in Alabama. Since 2000, she has served as president of J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College in Huntsville, Alabama. She was the first woman president at J.F. Drake.

Mary Scott Hunter of the State Board of Education said that Dr. McAlpine “is an able, talented, and gifted president. She brings solid leadership to Gadsden State.”

Dr. McAlpine is a graduate of Talladega College in Alabama, where she majored in English. She holds a master’s degree from Jacksonville State University and a doctorate from the University of Alabama.
