Two Black Scholars in New Teaching Roles

hillMarc Lamont Hill was appointed Distinguished Professor of American American studies at Morehouse College in Atlanta. He was an associate professor of education at Columbia University and earlier taught at Temple University. Dr. Hill is the author of four books including Beats, Rhymes, and Classroom Life: Hip-Hop Pedagogy and the Politics of Identity (Teachers College Press, 2009).

Dr. Hill is a graduate of Temple University and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Hilton was appointed assistant professor of college student personnel and director of the College Student Personnel program at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, North Carolina. Dr. Hilton was director of the Center for African American Research and Policy and assistant vice president for inclusion initiatives at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

Dr. Hilton is a graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta. He earned a master’s degree at Florida A&M University and a doctorate in higher education from Morgan State University in Baltimore.
