Montana State University was selected as the winner of the C. Peter Magrath University Community Engagement Award from the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities. The award recognized the work of the university’s Engineers Without Borders group, that has worked to bring clean water to the Khwisero region of Kenya. More than 80 students from Montana State have traveled to Kenya to work on the project where they have built seven deep-water wells and supplied clean drinking water to more than 60 schools.
The award comes with a $20,000 cash prize. The money will be used to help fund future university community engagement projects.
