In Memoriam: Harry Leon June Sr., 1957-2014

juneHarry June, a professor of psychiatry, professor of pharmacology and experimental therapeutics, and director of substance abuse research at the Howard University College of Medicine, died earlier this summer. He was 56 years old.

From 2005 to 2011, Dr. June taught at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. Earlier in his career, he was a professor of psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. He also taught at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and the University of the District of Columbia.

Professor June was a graduate of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, where he majored in psychology and biology. He earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of the District Columbia and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in physiological psychology at Howard University.
