Dexter A. Bailey Jr. was promoted to senior vice president for advancement at Stony Brook University, a campus of the State University of New York System. He has been serving as vice president for advancement at the university. Earlier in his career, Bailey was vice president for development and alumni relations at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts.
Bailey is a graduate of Ohio University in Athens, where he majored in journalism. He earned an MBA at the University of Toledo in Ohio.
Cheryl Evans Jones was appointed acting provost and vice president of academic affairs at Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. Since 2009, she has been executive assistant to the president of the college. Dr. Evans Jones joined the faculty at Paine College in 1993 as an assistant professor of psychology.
Dr. Evans Jones is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical child/developmental psychology from Ohio State University.
Stacy Downing is the new vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Delaware State University in Dover. Since 2013, she has been serving as associate vice president for student affairs. Previously, she held student affairs posts at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas, and the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. Downing is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where she majored in psychology. She holds a master’s degree from Xavier University in Ohio and a doctorate in urban educational leadership from the University of Cincinnati.
Brian Seymour was named research director at the Center for the Prevention of Health Disparities at Edward Waters College in Jacksonville, Florida. He is a professor of biology at the college.
Dr. Seymour is a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. He holds a master’s degree from San Francisco State University and a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of California, Davis.
Jonathan Muse was appointed executive director for external programs and continuing education at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. He was assistant dean and director of academic services at the Rutgers University School of Business in Camden, New Jersey.
Muse holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a master of public administration degree from Rutgers University. He is a doctoral candidate in public affairs and community development at Rutgers.
