Five New Black Scholars on the Faculty of Cornell University

CornellLogoCornell University in Ithaca, New York, has announced a large number of new faculty hires who are teaching on campus this fall. Five of the new hires are Black.

DiabateNaminata copyNaminata Diabate is an assistant professor of comparative literature. She was a postdoctoral associate in comparative literature at Cornell University. Dr. Diabate earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Cote D’Ivoire. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Texas at Austin.

HaskinsA copyAnna R. Haskins was named an assistant professor of sociology. She was a postdoctoral research scientist at the School of Social Work at Columbia University. Dr. Haskins is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Wisconsin.

PerryJamie copyJamie L. Perry is a new assistant professor of human resources management in the School of Hotel Administration. Dr. Perry is a graduate of the University of Houston, where she majored in psychology and sociology. She holds a master’s degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in organization management from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

0742_14_002.CR2Russell Rickford was appointed assistant professor of history. From 2009 to 2014, he was an assistant professor of history at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. His research is focused on the Black radical tradition. Dr. Rickford is a graduate of Howard University, where he majored in journalism. He holds a Ph.D. in history from Columbia University.

0782_14_011.CR2C. Riley Snorton is an assistant professor of Africana studies and an assistant professor of feminist, gender, and sexuality studies. Since 2011, he was an assistant professor of communication studies at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Snorton is a graduate of Columbia University. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
