Kentucky State University Announces Staff Reductions and Budget Cuts

kentucky-stateKentucky State University, the historically Black educational institution in Frankfort, has announced a budget reduction and reorganization plan in an effort to reduce the university’s $7 million operating deficit. President Raymond Burse outlined spending reductions of $950,000 this year and $2.1 million next year.

Under the spending reduction plan, 18 full-time staff positions will be eliminated. In addition 32 adjunct teaching positions will be eliminated with their teaching duties assigned to full-time faculty members. In addition, $500,000 will be cut from the athletics budget over the next two years.

President Burse had proposed across-the-board salary reductions for all employees, but that proposal met with stiff resistance.
