New Administrative Posts in Higher Education for Three African Americans

cinda scottCinda Scott was named director of the Center for Tropical Island Biodiversity Studies in Bocas del Toro, Panama. The center is part of the School for Field Studies, a study abroad organization based in Beverly, Massachusetts. Previously, she was the National Science Foundation Innovation Through Institutional Innovation Program Manager at New York City College of Technology.

Dr. Scott is a graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, where she majored in biology and environmental studies. She holds a Ph.D. in marine biology concentrating in molecular evolutionary genomics from the University of Miami’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.

Clyde_DoughtyClyde Doughty Jr. was appointed director of athletics at Bowie State University in Maryland. From 1988 to earlier this year, Doughty was director of intercollegiate athletics for the Old Westbury campus of the New York Institute of Technology.

Doughty is a graduate of the New York Institute of Technology.

savageMandara Savage was named provost faculty fellow at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. The position offers part-time academic leadership experience to university faculty with an interest in academic administration. Dr. Savage is an associate professor and chair of the department of technology at the university. He joined the university’s faculty in 1999.

Dr. Savage is a graduate of the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He holds a master’s degree from the University of  Memphis and a Ph.D. in industrial education and technology from Iowa State University.
