James “Jeigh” Singleton, professor emeritus of fashion design at Washington University in St. Louis, died on January 11 in Palquemine, Louisiana. He was 70 years old and was suffering from cancer.
Singleton joined the faculty at Washington University in 1972 and was appointed director of the fashion design program at the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts in 1987. He retired from teaching in 2012.
Professor Singleton was a 1966 graduate of Tuskegee University. He earned a master’s degree from Kansas State University.
