University of Rhode Island Scholars Mount Online Educational Effort for Kenya Educators

atf_logoOver the past decade the African Teacher Foundation has trained more than 1,000 teachers in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania to teach educators in their own countries on best practices for teaching literacy and mathematics to young students. Over the years, volunteers affiliated with the African Teacher Foundation have traveled to East Africa for training sessions.

But with terrorism in East Africa becoming an increasing concern, the African Teacher Foundation has turned to faculty and master’s degree students in the School of Education at the University of Rhode Island to conduct similar training online. They are currently conducting webinars that instruct Kenyan educators on teaching tools and adult learning theory that they can use so they can train other teachers in Kenya.
