Details surrounding the death of drum major Robert Chapman at Florida A&M University, reportedly as a result of a hazing incident, remain sketchy. But university officials announced that as a result of its internal inquiry, four students have been expelled from the university. Another 30 students were dismissed from the university’s band.
President James H. Ammons suspended all activities of the band while the investigation continues and he suspended its long-time director Julian White and planned to dismiss him on December 22.
Update: The Florida Department of Law Enforcement requested that the university hold off on any disciplinary action until it completes its investigation over Chapman’s death. Julian White has been placed on paid administrative leave and the four students who were expelled have been reinstated.
