Each year, only about 1,000 African Americans men earn doctoral degrees. Thus, it is noteworthy that this spring four African American men earned their doctoral degrees in one department in the College of Human Sciences and Education at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The four new doctoral recipients in educational leadership and research were under the tutelage of Kenneth J. Fasching-Varner, the Shirley B. Barton Endowed Assistant Professor in education at the university.
Here are brief educational biographies of the four African Americans who earned doctorates in the higher education leadership and research program this spring:
Kourtney Gray holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
