Two Women Scholars Named to Lead National Organizations

Mina Jones Jefferson was named president-elect of the National Association of Law Placement, an organization dedicated to the professional development of law students and lawyers. The organization was founded 44 years ago and has about 2,500 members. She will become president of the association in 2016.

Jefferson is an assistant dean and director of the Center for Professional Development at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. She is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and earned her law degree at the University of Cincinnati.

robinson_tomekaTomeka Robinson, associate professor and director of forensics in the department of rhetoric at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, was named president-elect of the Pi Kappa Delta National Honorary Society. She is the first African American to be named to lead the society. The organization is the nation’s oldest collegiate debating organization with more than 80,000 alumni members.

Dr. Robinson is a graduate of McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Texas A&M University.
