Fort Valley State University Announces a Series of New Minor Degree Programs

fvsuFort Valley State University, the historically Black educational institution in Georgia, has announced a series of new minor degree programs.

  • The mathematics and computer science department has announced the establishment of a minor degree in applied statistics. Students will need to complete five courses in order to qualify for the minor concentration.
  • A new minor degree in theater/performance studies is targeting students in the drama and communications departments. University officials estimate that between 15 and 40 students will pursue the minor degree program during the first year.
  • A minor degree program in gerontology has received approval for students beginning this fall. The program will be under the direction of Komanduri Murty, professor of sociology and chair of the department of behavioral sciences.
  • A new minor degree program in chemistry will target students majoring in technology, engineering, and mathematics.
