The New President of the North Miami Campus of Johnson & Wales University

larry riceLarry Rice was appointed president of the North Miami Campus of Johnson & Wales University. The campus enrolls about 1,900 students and African Americans make up 29 percent of the student body.

Dr. Rice has served as president on an interim basis since 2014. Previously, he was vice president and dean of academic affairs at the North Miami Campus. Dr. Rice joined the faculty at the university in 1993.

Dr. Rice earned an associate’s degree at Johnson & Wales University. He went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degree from Florida International University and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024

Strickland spent his lifetime dedicated to advancing civil rights and Black political representation. For four decades, he served as a professor of political science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where he taught courses on Black history and the civil rights movement.
