The New Provost at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology

jstevensonJoseph Martin Stevenson was promoted to provost at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. The school is private graduate school devoted exclusively to the study of psychology and the behavioral sciences. It enrolls about 4,500 students on campuses in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C., as well as online programs. Blacks make up approximately 12 percent of the student body at the flagship Chicago campus, where women are 82 percent of all enrollees. At the Washington, D.C. campus, Blacks make up nearly half of all enrollments.

Since June 2014, Dr. Stevenson has served as vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Previously, he was special assistant to the president at Little Priest Tribal College in Winnebago, Nebraska. Earlier in his career he served as provost, senior vice president, and chief operating officer at Mississippi Valley State University and provost and vice president of academic and student affairs at Jackson State University in Mississippi. He is the author or co-author of 13 books including Hear and Now: Desk Guide for Administrative and Academic Decision Making With Higher Education Action Research (Academic Press, 2013).

Dr. Stevenson holds two master’s degrees from California State University, Sacramento and a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational policy management from the University of Oregon.
