Kentucky State University Sees a Decline in Enrollments But a Rise in Its Retention Rate

KSULogoHiRes2aKentucky State University in Frankfort reports that this year’s retention rate is the university highest in a decade. There are 165 second-year students on campus this year who matriculated last fall. This is 60.2 percent of last year’s entering class of 274 students. A year ago the retention rate was 43.7 percent.

The university reports that overall enrollments are 1,585, down more than 16 percent from a total of 1,895 last fall. But the university states that unlike a year ago “all of the students are engaged and financially viable.”

Melinda Impellizzeri, special assistant to Kentucky State University Raymond Burse, says that “we’re putting structure in place to deliver better organization, better student progress monitoring, better customer service, and overall effectiveness. It’s more than just a job. We are transforming to hold each other accountable for every role in our students’ success.”
