Black Student at Lewis & Clark College Says He Was Beaten by Whites Yelling Racial Slurs

lclark2A Black student at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon, claims he was attached by a group of three White men on campus. The victims said he was accosted by the White men near the campus pool. The Black man says he was beaten while his attackers yelled racial slurs.

The attack on the Lewis & Clark campus came days after several racist statements threatening Black students appeared on the social media app Yik-Yak. One post stated, “I just want to hang you ignorant Black people.”

Lewis & Clark College enrolls about 3,500 students. Blacks make up just 2 percent of the undergraduate student body.
