In Memoriam: Toni Kay Johnson, 1956-2016

Toni_JohnsonToni Johnson, an associate professor of social welfare at the University of Kansas, died on January 7 in Austin, Texas. She was 59 years old.

Dr. Johnson joined the faculty at the University of Kansas in 2005 and was promoted to associate professor in 2012. Before joining the University of Kansas faculty, Dr. Johnson taught in the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee-Memphis. Dr. Johnson specialized in children’s mental health issues.

Dr. Johnson was a graduate of Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where she double majored in psychology and sociology. She held a master of social work degree and a doctorate in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.
