Two African American Men Are Leaving High-Level Administrative Posts at State Universities

wilsonCharles Wilson, dean of the College of Arts and Letters at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, has announced he will step down as dean on July 24. After a one-semester sabbatical, Dr. Wilson will remain at the university as a professor of English at the university’s Virginia Beach Higher Education Center.

Professor Wilson joined the faculty at the university in 1991 and was named dean in 2011. Dr. Wilson received a bachelor’s degree in English from West Georgia College, a master’s degree from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Patrick LiverpoolPatrick R. Liverpool, provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, has stepped down from his post for medical reasons. Dr. Liverpool joined the staff at the university in 2014. He was the MBNA Professor of Management and dean of the School of Management at Delaware State University and then served in executive level posts at several universities on an interim basis.

Dr. Liverpool holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico. He holds a doctorate in business administration from Kent State University in Ohio.
