Virginia State University in Petersburg south of the state capital in Richmond, reports encouraging trends in enrollment numbers. The number of students enrolled in summer sessions at the university is up 19 percent from a year ago.
Preliminary data for fall enrollments project a 5 percent increase in total enrollments from a year ago. The university has commitments from 5,414 students for the fall semester.
The number of first-year students who have indicated their intention to enroll is up a significant 30 percent from 2015. The university has also seen an increase in commitments to enroll from transfer students.
Rodney Hall, executive director of enrollment services at Virginia State University, said that “we are excited that more students are recognizing the benefits of attending Virginia State University. We offer excellent academic programs and we offer one of the most affordable and best academic values in the Commonwealth of Virginia.”
