The University of the District of Columbia has established a new financial aid initiative in an effort to attract the top high school students in the Washington area. The District of Columbia University Partnership (D.C. UP) will offer scholarships to valedictorians and salutatorians of public and charter high schools in the District.
Under the program, valedictorians and salutatorians at the 70 high schools in District would be offered full tuition scholarships for four years and a $6,000 annual housing allowance. Merit scholarships will also be available for other high school students in the District with grade point averages of 3.0 or better.
The new initiative has been funded with $1.24 million.
