Pennsylvania HBCU to Send Graduates to University of Pittsburgh Nursing School

Cheyney University of PennsylvaniaCheyney University, the historically Black educational institution in Pennsylvania, has signed an agreement with the University of Pittsburgh to fast-track high-achieving Cheyney students into the accelerated bachelor’s degree program in nursing and the Ph.D. program in nursing at the University of Pittsburgh.

Under the program, Cheyney students who have earned bachelor’s degrees in other disciplines will be accepted into the accelerated bachelor’s degree nursing program at Pitt. Students can complete their bachelor’s degree in nursing in three terms or one calendar year. Under the agreement, at least four Cheyney students will be guaranteed positions in the nursing degree program.

In order to be considered for admission to the University of Pittsburgh, Cheyney students must have a B average or better while at Cheyney. Graduates of Cheyney have five years from their date of graduation to apply to the nursing program at Pitt.

At least one Cheyney student will be accepted into the accelerated bachelor’s degree to Ph.D. track program. Students interested in this program need to have a 3.5 grade point average while at Cheyney.
