Race-Related Vandalism on the Campus of DePauw University in Indiana

depauwThe nameplates on the dormitory doors of African American students at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, were ripped off in acts of vandalism. One Black student had the inscription “H8 Niggers” written on the message board on her dormitory room.

Students criticized the university administration for not publicly addressing the incident until two days after it had been reported.

DePauw University, west of Indianapolis, enrolls about 2,250 undergraduate students. Blacks make up 5 percent of the student body.
