Delaware State University Partners With the Catholic University Institute of Buea in Cameroon

delaware-state-logoDelaware State University, the historically Black educational institution in Dover, has entered into a partnership agreement with the Catholic University Institute of Buea, located in the southwestern portion of the African nation of Cameroon.

The Catholic University Institute was founded in 2010. It currently enrolls nearly 1,700 students. The university’s website says that its goal is to prepare Cameroonians and international students to not only be job seekers but also job creators. The university’s stated aim “is to train young people to be Good Christian Business Leaders who will come out with skills and innovation to begin their own businesses and so gradually address the problems of unemployment, poverty and misery.”

The agreement between Delaware State and the Catholic University Institute calls for faculty and student exchanges. Also the universities will collaborate on research projects and grant proposals. Delaware State officials will mentor their counterparts in the Catholic University Institute’s School of Agriculture and Natural Resources and the School of Informational Technology.
