Bethune-Cookman University Offers Two New Degree Programs in Rehabilitation Science

Bethune-CookmanSealBethune-Cookman University, the historically Black educational institution in Daytona Beach, Florida, has announced the establishment of two new degree programs in the College of Health Sciences. The new programs are a bachelor of science degree in health and exercise science and a master’s degree in athletic training. Both new programs will be under the auspices of the department of rehabilitation science at the university.

Torrance Williams, chair of the department of rehabilitation science at Bethune-Cookman University, explains that “we want to be known as the Rehabilitation Sciences hub among all HBCUs. We thought that it would be appropriate to also start an undergraduate program that could feed into the master’s program, as well as prepare students for other health care professions such as physicians assistant or physical therapy.”

Dr. Williams reports that there are 150 students currently enrolled at the university who have expressed interest in the new degree programs.
