A Quartet of African American Scholars in New Faculty Posts

Rashida K. Braggs was promoted to associate professor of Africana studies at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She was also granted tenure. Dr. Braggs is the author of Jazz Diasporas: Race, Music and Migration in Post-World War II Paris (University of California Press, 2016).

Dr. Braggs is a graduate of Yale University. She holds a master’s degree from Boston University and a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

Prentiss A. Dantzler is a new assistant professor of sociology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. He first came to Colorado College as a Riley Predoctoral Fellow.

Dr. Dantzler is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he majored in energy and business finance. He holds a master of public administration degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Beronda Montgomery was named a Foundation Professor at Michigan State University. The honor is given to faculty members who “demonstrate excellence in research and teaching while enhancing the prominence of the institution.”

Dr. Montgomery is a professor of biochemistry and molecular biology and a professor of microbiology and molecular genetics at the university. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis.

Norman Anderson is joining the faculty at Florida State University as a research professor in both the College of Social Work and the College of Nursing. He will also hold the position of assistant vice president for research and academic affairs at the university. Dr. Anderson served for 13 years as president of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Anderson is a graduate of North Carolina Central University in Durham. He holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
