
Rebecca Mark, a professor of English at Tulane, has been named director of the Center for Academic Equity. She states that “the center will serve as an academic location for underrepresented and underserved students.” Marks added that “during my entire time at Tulane, I’ve been working on issues concerning diversity. We want to be a more inclusive campus. We hope to support, celebrate and create a community for these students.”
African Americans make up about 9 percent of the nearly 8,000 undergraduate students on the Tulane University campus.
