North Carolina Central University, the historically Black educational institution in Durham, has announced that it is adding new undergraduate programs in its department of mathematics and physics.
A concentration in computational and engineering mathematics will prepare graduates for careers in informatics, modeling and simulation, artificial intelligence, cryptology and other fields. Students in this concentration will take courses in mathematics, physics, end engineering.
The university will offer a program in engineering physics. This concentration will lead to careers in software development, computer design, and applied science.
Mohammad Ahmed, recruitment coordinator for the department of mathematics and physics notes that “students who complete either of these programs will graduate with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a variety of work settings. Not only will they have cutting-edge coursework and laboratory experience, but opportunities for internships and to attend conferences with some of the top professionals in the field.”
