The New Dean of the College of Social Work at the University of Utah

Martell Teasley is the new dean of the College of Social Work at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. For the past five years, Dr. Teasley has been chair of the department of social work in the College of Public Policy at the University of Texas at San Antonio. This past February, Dr. Teasley was elected president of the National Association of Deans and Directors of Schools of Social Work.

In accepting his new appointment, Dr. Teasley noted that under this leadership the College of Social Work will continue to advance its commitment to community outreach, advocacy, and helping local communities address social service needs. “Our faculty will continue to gain greater national and international prominence for their accomplishments,” Dean Teasley said. “And we will demonstrate why we at the University of Utah are leaders in social work education, research, and services to the community.”

Dr. Teasley is a graduate of Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. He holds a master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and a doctorate in social work from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

In Memoriam: William Strickland, 1937-2024
